Meetings with REMARKABLE BEGONIANS
or
What I learned on a trek through the world of Begonias.
Thoughts Collected by Pernel S. Thyseldew

This site could just as easily been named Begonia Lover.Com, since once I got the bug to grow them, it became a lifetime habit and hobby. Along my path through the world of the Begonia, I have had the pleasure and privilege to meet many of the guiding lights of Begonia horticulture. I have realized that these Begonians contributed more to my ultimate understanding of plant life and growth in general than many a book.  Here are some personal anecdotes:
I first became aware of begonias as an outstanding plant species when in 1969 while living and studying in London, I visited Kew gardens, where a Begonia cocinea cane type begonia in a glasshouse had grown to over eight feet in one season I was told by a Kew gardener, I was astonished at the plants vigor, silver markings and well just it's whole persona.
